Cleveland band Mr. Gnome to play benefit show

The Auricle is hosting a concert that is worth more than showcasing great music and having a good time.

Cleveland band Mr. Gnome will perform after opening acts Jaybird Goody and Zen and Jane at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 6 at the Canton venue, 601 Cleveland Ave NW. All proceeds from the show will benefit Brian Hudson, 27, survivor of an I-76 car accident that killed two people in Akron on June 16.

Hudson, a 2001 Lake High School graduate, severed his spinal cord and broke his back, causing him to lose his ability to walk. He also needs reconstruction surgery to repair his right arm.

In intensive care for three weeks, Hudson is now in rehab.

Tickets for the benefit concert are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. They can be purchased at www.theauricle.net.
